About Me
My name is Joel Tapernoux. At an early age, I was allowed to discover my love for nature, especially the mountains in Switzerland, France as well as Central Asia.
Since my youth, I have been interested in film and have always made small films with friends. Now, I combine these two passions and document my worldwide adventures since 2017. I have rappelled into a glacier cave, soloed over a pathless 3000m peak, sailed through 40kn gusts and 3m waves, hitchhiked across Germany and spent the first Corona lockdown in Laos (check it out here). An acquaintance once said this about me: "Adventures follow him wherever he goes!"
To me, adventure means stepping out of my comfort zone and venturing into something whose course or outcome is not 100% predictable. In uncertainty, where not everything is in our control, we learn so much for life. We're never fully in control anyway! Unforeseen things can always happen suddenly and force us to change plans or abandon goals altogether. However, if we achieve them despite all adversities, we can be grateful and proud of the experiences we have made. In nature I experience these truths very directly and with all my senses.
Adventures can be experienced at the North Pole, in the Sahara or on Mount Everest. But also in your own garden, in the forest next door, on the local mountain. Alone, with children, or with friends.
My passion is the beauty and diversity of nature, both in the big, breathtaking moments, as well as in the small inconspicuous details.
But again and again, the lasting memories are the encounters with people who call these places their home and have learned to live with and in this environment.
